02. Do some research on your client

Before you begin any project, you must first research your client. Examine your clients' profiles in detail. Take into account all of your client's specifics. Try to understand your client's policies, such as project duration, reviews, work hours, payment method, budgets, amount to be paid, project kind, etc. Before signing the contract, genuine clients make these points apparent. As a result, choose your clientele carefully.

03. Verify Your Client's Transparency

It would help if you verified your client's honesty. Examine your client's ratings and the feedback they've received for previous projects. Remember that a trustworthy client will almost certainly have excellent ratings and reviews. Do not be fooled by fake reviews.

04. Refuse to participate in any test or get any free samples.

Some clients may frequently request free samples from you to assess your abilities. It's a good idea to stay away from these clients. It is strictly against Upwork's policies.

These clients are con artists who use this policy to do their work without paying for it. So, avoid these con artists. Never consent to a free sample.

05. Use a Secured Payment System

Always strive to pay for the job safely and securely. Upwork suggests that you use the escrow service it offers. It's safe and secure, and it prevents any payment conflicts. Ensure you're dealing with a closed system whenever you're dealing with a fixed pricing or hourly contract to avoid losing your money.

06. Inform Others About Scams

If you have any reason to believe that a job posting is a hoax, please report it. Give your suspicion a more favorable outcome. Your action will encourage other freelancers to avoid the phone job posting.
